Brave New World Revisited Quote #1

Growing up I was led to believe that authors such as Aldous Huxley (Brave New World; Brave New World Revisited), H.G. Wells (The Open Conspiracy), and George Orwell (1984)were men of vision, literary prophets, who by sheer foresight, could predict the future with uncanny accuracy. Well, now I know better. These men, like other "prophets" before them, had no foresight, they merely had insight on a persistent agenda--they were "insiders", "in-the-know", "possessing facts", that the average joe shmoe was completely unwary of. They were indeed, merely reporting, or painting an image on the canvas of our minds of what they saw in the works...what lies beneath the veil of the mystery of iniquity.

"The 21st century...will be the era of the World Controllers...the older dictators fell because they could never supply their subjects with enough bread, enough circuses, enough miracles and mysteries. Under a scientific dictatorship education will really work--with the result that most men and women will grow up to love their servitude and will never dream of revolution. There seems to be no good reason why a thoroughly scientific dictatorship should ever be overthrown." ~ Aldous Huxley Brave New World Revisited
